1964 Alvis TE 21 for sale. This splendid 1964 Alvis TE 21 saloon is a very original example with an exceptionally well documented history from 8500 miles in 1966 when bought by the 2nd owner from Caffyns of Eastbourne. He had the car inspected by the AA and corresponded with Alvis who confirmed that the first owner was a fastidious gentleman who had sent it back to the factory at just over 2000 miles to have Power Assisted Steering fitted ,a factory option on the TE 21. Of the 352 built about half had PAS. Alvis also replaced the back axle under warranty at the same time ! Hubert Brown transferred the number KMM813 [was AKE777B] and kept the car until 1979 keeping a meticulous service record with every bill and letter filed. His correspondence with Alvis Cars alone could fill a file and shows his care for his car and the unrelenting patience of Alvis ! His invoice from Caffyns shows that he paid £2100 for the car and that included a respray in mid grey! The mileage when sold in 1979 to David Bullock was about 73000 and a new clutch was fitted just before that. KMM 813 has the desirable 5 speed ZF box which makes the car a most delightfully relaxed touring car with significantly better gearing than the more common automatic version. David Bullock advertised the car in 1993 in the AOC newsletter and it was sold to David Bull who registered it in the name of his wife, Mrs PM Bull. She kept the car until 2009 and during her ownership it was returned to the original colour of Peony red and did the Alvis Owner Club tour of the USA in 2000. Photos in the files show the car crossing the Canadian border. Having had a succession of caring long term owners KMM 813 remains a pleasantly original example that has only covered 96,500 well recorded miles. The interior is lovely and merely requires an application of hide food from time to time. The engine runs beautifully with good oil pressure and the fuel pump has recently been rebuilt. The coachwork is straight with good door gaps, the paintwork is presentable and the chrome is good. An eminently useable gentleman's conveyance ! Please contact us for more images and information. Price £19500 PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE PHOTOS NB All photos are copyright Classic Bikes Ltd. |
